My first impression is that video is a place where CS5 is home-field advantage. It’s a little more powerful than CS4. In a lot of ways, I feel it’s a little more like the original Mac video imaging applications that sit alongside Photoshop rather than the simple video editing software found in later versions of the software. In terms of the overall feature set of the application, there’s not much that significantly new. There is one new feature that supports working with multiple image and video formats in addition to the standard TIFF, JPEG, etc. formats: XAVC, a format that’s becoming more and more popular in video recording especially from DSLRs and other digital video cameras. Other than that, it appears that the video editing features are largely unchanged.

Adobe Lightroom was exactly what the team had wanted. They had created a user interface, which allowed for advanced edits to an image that was similar like the user interface they were using for the Digital Media Suite version of Photoshop.

As graphic design grew more and more a direct part of the creative process, art directors needed a program that could help them create images and documents, and preserve them. After an extended period of no one making money in the industry, the commercial art department began to see a need for a photo editor. So Creativity Incorporated funded a new product, calling it Photoshop, an abbreviation of “PhotoShop” and a nod to the software’s past. Graphic designers had been editing photos on their Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, and Apple machines for years and creating their own software to do so.
The announcements for this year also confirmed the end of long-term service releases for Creative Suite. We expect to release a new version of Photoshop later this year, but we will not be providing a few more hundred add-on products. As always, we will continue to repair and update our software as needed.
